Dream Home…Xanadu

I’ve mentioned this in blog posts before, but I fell in love with Xanadu homes (bubble looking shotcrete-styrofoam homes that were futuristic) that were in tourist traps like Gatlinburg, the Dells and Florida. Continue reading “Dream Home…Xanadu” »

A Teen…A Mystery….A Prom…A Birthday….A Success!

I’m not really sure if Courtney knew what she wanted to do for her 15th Birthday. But last month we took a trip to the Mall of America, when all the kids didn’t have school on a Friday, and we perused shops and just had a nice day. A Message to Courtney!

I can’t believe your turning 15 today!

I remember the day I first met you.

I remember you hunting around my room and taking everything that I had that was Tigger (large plush Tigger, Tigger backpack, Tigger Pillow, Tigger Slippers, and even my Tigger desk clock) and hoarding it all under my computer desk in a Tigger nest. I knew that we were going to be fast friends and have so much in common. Continue reading “A Message to Courtney!” »

I wish…

Recently I was listening to a podcast from “This Week in Photography” (they have some great discussions over there) and it got my creative juices flowin.

What would my wish list be? What would I like to photograph?

Well, like Sara France said in the podcast: “Dream Big…and make it happen…make that shoot” Continue reading “I wish…” »

My heads a swimmin’

Recently I have been taking charge of my personal life and making some changes. The biggest has been re-learning how to eat and lose weight.

As of today, I am down 10.5 lbs…and its my second week.

But at work last night…I realized…I can’t just take charge of my personal life, I need to take charge of my professional life as well.

Couples Massage Class

Tonight Amy and I had Couples Massage Training* with our Message Therapist Steph over at StoneWater Massage & Skin Care.

Before I get to far into this post, I want to be clear, this was not a “sensual” couples massage class. This was just basic techniques to help each other relieve pain and tension when we are at home and not able to book with Steph for a more thorough pain relief session.

Now that I have that out of the way, let me just say, that I don’t like giving massages. Continue reading “Couples Massage Class” »

End of a Generation

Lorraine and Bert

My Grandma & Me

Lorraine in the ‘80s

In 2008, I said goodbye to my Great-Aunt Muriel. (You can read that in this post).

Yesterday, at 7:00 p.m. on Valentines Day, Muriel’s Sister (My Grandmother) passed away. She was 86 and a half years old. She was the last of her brother’s and sisters. Muriel, Clayton, and Byron never had any children. Only Lorraine and her sister Zella had any children.

As I have written countless times, these two women were a huge influence on my life.

What a start to a week…

This week has started out very rough.

First, my grandmother passes away on Valentines day. If that wasn’t enough, tonight, Amy was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

I figured it would be easier to give all the details in one blog post. Continue reading “What a start to a week…” »

When Angels Dream

I posted on Facebook when I woke up:

Woke up in tears…I had a very real-feeling bittersweet dream…long story short: I was “visited” by my great Aunt (who inspired me to be creative growing up) and I was able to finally say goodbye, which I wasn’t able to do when she died 2 years ago.

So I thought I would post the whole thing, mainly to record this down somewhere. Continue reading “When Angels Dream” »
